Learning to respond to uncertainty.
Join the OOA for another Beer:Thirty! event. This time we will utilize our newfound virtual skills to bring you our first online Beer:Thirty! Make sure to bring your favorite beverage as we learn more about the art of responding to uncertainty, rather than reacting to it. No doubt COVID has introduced uncertainty into the outdoor industry all across Oregon. How have some organizations responded to the COVID environment and how can we utilize these new insights to respond to future challenges? Come learn from Will Vopert, owner of Indigo Creek Outfitters based in Phoenix, Oregon. Will grew up on rivers, guiding and working hand in hand with his father and brothers operating on some of the premier rivers of the US, including the Middle Fork of the Salmon, the Kern, Klamath, and Rogue. Will continued the family tradition of running high quality, family fun river trips when he opened Indigo Creek in 2011. Will plans to share some of his insights operating a rafting company within the COVID reality and shed light on the Klamath Dam removal, the largest dam removal project in the world. Both COVID and the Klamath Dam removal represent large scale events that will shape the future of Oregon outdoor recreation. Running rivers is perhaps the greatest metaphor for our times. We don’t simply go with the flow and react, rather we calculate, predict, and engineer our moves to produce a positive outcome. Will talks about how to concentrate on the variables within our grasp that can help build a positive future for the Oregon outdoor industry.
